"Uhm, nothing...That I can explain, anyways." She frowned and looked towards Haiban, mouthing 'Help?'.
The couatl chortled, but picked himself up. "Nothing you should worry about just yet. It's getting dark. You should rest - Meta, that means you. You need to regain your magic." He sat up, saying he'd keep vigil in case a gnoll - or something worse - came about sometime in the middle of the night.
That, and he wanted to check on something once they fell asleep. "Fine," Meta mumbled, pulling a bedroll from her bag. "In the morning, I want to go into the main camp and buy some provisions. I have this feeling something's going to happen soon..." She peered around curiously, before crawling into the bedrolls.

Bandoal nodded and put his head back down and continued to stare at the sky. 'Nothing to worry about, I don't think that's true,' he thought as he eyed Meta lying next to the fire.
"Uh, good night," he said as he pulled a blanket over him and laid down to sleep, crickets could be heard chirping in the distance, and fireflys began to buzz in the evening air.

I hope you know what you're doing. Meta hissed to Haiban before saying goodnight to Bandoal and falling asleep.
Haiban merely nodded and began to peer around the darkness. He narrowed his eyes and keened in his hearing to try and hear everything around him. He then heard some voices towards the main camp -
"You think that's what happened?" Asked one, masculine.
"Who knows. Lys'ifirit wouldn't bother with gnolls, so we can't ask her. Besides, they don't dare go into the deeper area of the woods, so it doesn't matter to her." Another, feminine.
"Wait - that's it. Yaranium. Maybe he got fed up with the gnolls again..."
"Of course..." The voices faded and Haiban shook his head. What were they talking about - Lys'ifirit, Yaranium? He racked his brain, then it took hold.
That's right. Lys'ifirit is a very old green dragon that lives deeper in the forest, and Yaranium is a gold dragon that lives in the plains... Ooooh. I think I know what's happening now. He nodded slightly, looking at Meta. She was already asleep. He'd have to inform her of this, and if what he was thinking was correct...
Then the forest and plains are in for a bit of bloodshed soon.

Bandoal sat up abrubtly on his mat, flinging a sleeping Feder off his chest and onto the ground next to the dead fire. Feder yipped as he hit the ground, then sat and looked at Bandoal with his head tilted to one side. Bandoal sat on his mat panting for a long while, staring into the dim, gray light of early dawn, the thick morning fog obscuring anything beyond the clearing.
"What a nightmare," Bandoal breathed as he roled off his mat and got up onto his knees. His dreams had been filled with visions of death, visions not his own, and images of his father, but not memories. The images were of a male elf, wearing fine coats with bits of lace at the cuffs and neck, and a cloak that could stop fire draped over him.
Bandoal shook his head. 'Just a dream, that's all.' He stood and stretched before picking up and sheathing his weapons and looked at the fire, at least what remained of the fire. Small gray wisps of smoke rose from glowing embers to melt into the dence fog. 'Need to add wood,' he thought as he knelt back down next ot his pile of old wood he had gathered. He thought about his dreams as he piled wood onto the embers, the larger logs falling with a loud clunk. "It seemed so real," he said aloud, not realizing there were others there who might hear.

Meta wasn't where she was supposed to be. She wasn't at the camp, anyways.
Haiban woke with a jolt, and looked around. He spied Feder, Bandoal... but no Meta. Where could she have gone?
The couatl sighed, and lifted himself up. He watched Bandoal for a moment, uninteresedly, and heard him mutter. The couatl remained quiet, for now, however.
Meta, where the bloody Hell are you?
Shh! I saw some more of those gnolls snooping around the camp early in the morning. The Elves chased them off, but I heard them muttering something.
They're gnolls. They mutter. Haiban responded, irritated.
No...that's not what I meant... Oh, put a glob in it, you stupid snake.
Haiban snorted.

Bandoal jumped at Haiban's snort and looked around hastily to see what had produced the noise. When he saw Haiban he relaxed, and rose from the freshly lit fire.
"I suppose you don't feel up to getting us breakfast this morning," he said as he surveyed the clearing. He looked around, but couldn't find Meta anywhere. 'Where'd she go?'
"Do you know where Meta is, Haiban?" he asked as he knelt next to Feder, who was sniffing the air curiously, and scratched his head.

"Nope." Haiban lied. Though it was quite undetectable. He stuck his nose into the air, watching Bandoal. He sighed, and slithered away, mumbling about going off to get something to eat.
"I suppose I'll bring back something."
*
As Haiban left, a pair of orangey eyes opened up and watched Bandoal from the safety of the trees. The furry creature wrinkled its snout, and wriggled. But the Gnoll wasn't going to move.
The black-furred creature barred its teeth, and turned about, whispering to a neighbor about something.
"That him?" One asked, and the black one nodded. "Where female?"
"I don't know," the black one admitted.

"Be careful out there, watch for gnolls!" Bandoal shouted after Haiban as he left. 'Now why would I be so concerend? I met them what, a day ago?'
His back tingled, the same feeling he had had at the streem a day gone. He looked around and muttered giberish to himself. 'This bloody forest. Adventure, I said, need to get away from the city, I said. I should have gone to the sea or something.'
He sat next to the fire and drew his dagger and began to whittle a small stick to a very sharp point. 'Maby I'll make myself a bow?' He sat and worked, the feeling of being watched causing his skin to crawl.

Haiban snorted, waving his tail. "Oh please. Gnolls don't bother me."
You'd better be back at that camp in the next hour, Missy!
Screw you, snake. I'm still following these..gnolls.. She faltered.
What's wrong? Haiban asked, stopping somewhere between the camp and the river.
Erm..nothing. I'm coming back.
Haiban knew something happened. He cursed, but continued to look for food.

The two gnolls remained watching Bandoal, looking for clues as to where the girl may be.
"Why we here, again?"
The black gnoll - who was obviously a lot more intelligent than the others - rolled his eyes. "Because. Boss said so. Now shut up and watch the elf-human."

Bandoal stopped shaping the choice branch he had chosen for a new bow and looked up into some bushes. 'That's funny, I thought I heard something.' He stood, leaning the unfinished bow against his shoulder.
"Meta? Is that you out there?" he called as he sheathed his dagger behind his belt. 'Or is it a gnoll?' he thought as he moved his hand from his dagger hilt to his sword hilt.
"Whoever it is, show yourself," he said setting his bow on the ground, his muscles tensing in anticipation.

Meta tumbled out of the bushes, just under where the gnolls were hiding. She hair out of her eyes, and grinned wrly. "Sorry bout that..." She stood up, and brushed herself off. She looked behind her, glaring into the trees.
*
The gnolls froze. They knew she knew they were there. The black gnoll cursed lowly, but they both remained silent.

Bandoal relaxed, and removed his hand from his swordhilt. 'That's good.'
"It is you Meta, I thought it might be more gnolls," he scratched his head and looked at Feder, glaring into the distance, or mabey directly into the forest.
An eagle called in the distance and Bandoal looked up again. 'Hmm, mabey it likes me?' he thought with a chuckle.

Meta looked up, and narrowed her eyes slightly. "Hmm... Well, there are Gnolls still creeping around the area, and--whoa!" She shrieked as an arrow whizzed by her head, and embedded itself into a treetrunck near her.
She spun around, glowering, noticing that five gnolls, including the big, burly black gnoll, came charging from the woods. They quickly surrounded the trio, and Meta back up.
The black gnoll snarled, "Look what we have here boys!" He grinned mischeviously, and the other gnolls also grinned.
"What are you doing so close to camp?" Meta growled, mentally screaming at Haiban to return, quickly.
The Gnoll only grinned. "Well, Master wants to take over the Druid camp. So, we have to fufill."

Bandoal growled deep in his throat as the Gnoll talked with Meta. He drew his sword and dagger and told Feder to get behind him. Feder growled with Bandoal and he looked from gnoll to gnoll, planning any possible attack.
'This is just great, why did I come out here!' he thought as he looked at Meta. 'For adventure,' he responded silently in his head.

Meta wrapped her fingers together, glowering and beginning to chant.
"Nuhuh!" The black gnoll charged, feinting an attack, which cause Meta to faulter and thus disprut her spellcasting. She swore, and backed up a bit more, closer to Bandoal.
"Not good, not good."
A loud screech followed, and Haiban burst from the trees, in full form and sprawling for the gnolls. This caused them to gasp in suprise as the couatl flung itself from the trees, and he grappled onto one and slammed it into the ground. The other gnolls growled. Two went to beat on the couatl while Haiban wrestled the gnoll, and the other two turned and began to advance on Bandoal.
The big black one turned to Meta, and grinned. "And you. Master wants you."
"What?" Meta narrowled her eyes.
"Master Xen'Drik."
Her eyes widened, and she shook her head. "Xe-Xen'drik...? Shit! Why is he here?!" She panicked, mostly to herself, but stopped and turned to the black gnolls, her dagger grasped in her hand as she began to spellweave again.
