Kem perched herself on the bank. A weeks travel. I shouldn't be as tired as this, she thought bitterly, shaking her head. Lust had flown ahead of them and was now snapping his beak in the water, taking great gulps. Nebet was more refined. She had spent more time here then Kem and knew that drinking fast would be a sure-fire way to get a bellyache.
Nebet carefully filled the waterskins, then took her turn at a drink. Always drink before bathing. She glanced over at Tanania, wondering how she was doing. This weather was a lot hotter than what she was used to. Kem too. She dared a glance at Kem, and for once was not reprimanded. Her elder sister was staring at the ground, deep in thought.
"Tanania? Who are the Lamia?" Nebet asked. Kem had forwarned her to wait on her questions until they arrived.

The green dragons was greatfully drinking at the water, and lifted her head up and looked at Nebet. The wyrmling pondered for a moment, before shrugging. "The Lamia are evil desert predators Lys'ifirit told me about. They are half-man, half-lion. Occassionally there will be one that's half-goat or something."
She sniffed, and shook her head, dipping her head back into the water and drinking, a bit more slowly this time.

"Do you know where to find them?" This time it was Kem that spoke. She lifted her head, eyes half-lidded. Nebet looked worried.
"Kem, I are you-"
Kem waved her hand, ignoring her sibling. "I'm fine. Now, Tanania. Do you know what the Sceptre of the Sun is as well?" Lust let out a loud shriek, glaring at the green dragon. For once throughout their journey, Kem did not silence him, and he took this oportunity to hop closer.

"It's a Sceptre, stupid." The green dragon hissed. Well, no one ever said dragons had polite tongues. "Lamia tribes are scattered throughout the desert. I don't know where the Frozen Claw live. Lys'ifirit never said. The Sceptre of Sun is a sceptre with magical fire attribute."

"Hmmmm." Kem turned to gaze behind them, frowning. Lust, sensing her disquiet, fluttering over to her, snapping at Tanania on his way over. Kem stroked him absent-mindedly, muttering softly. The arrowhawk watched her intently for awhile, then let out a squawk of alarm. She repeated it, this time hissing whatever was said. Lust fluffed his wings, looking uneasy.
"We'll head west. Hopefully find them. If not..." she paused, a slight grin flitting over her face. Nebet frowned, glancing at Tanania. What was her sister up to.
"We'll need to rest," Nebet said hopefully. Kem nodded but paid her no more attention. Nebet sighed and returned to filling waterskins.

Tanania let a low rumble from her throat. She didnt like the look that Kem displayed. "And what if we don't find them?" She dared Kem to answer, lifting her head defiantly.
She made it absolutely clear she wouldn't hesitate to attack if they tries anything with her she didn't like. She may not be very big or indimitating yet, but she was far from helpless.

Nebet, done filling the waterskins, decided it was time to take a bath. Kem, on the hand, turned, walking over to Tanania and crouching before her so that they were face-to-face.
"This is your mothers quest, dragon. I have little care for it. I would not be here out of curiosity, and even now that is waning. Lust has made it clear that he doesn't trust you, and I have made it clear that you do not trust us, either, but I do not have full control over him," Kem hissed, eyes narrowing. "I have studied. I know how to kill a dragon. I could have slain you many times, but there is nothing to be gained from that," she said, leaning back a bit and shrugging. "I am here for my own purposes. I have no wish to kill you, though I admit Lust is getting a bit...anxious. Do not trust him," she cast a glance over her shoulder. The arrowhawk was glaring at them. Kem sighed. "I had better go pacify him before he does something rash..."

Tanania narrowed her eyes. Fine, if she was going to play rough...
"Fine." She mumbled, flicking her tail. Though she seemed disbelieving of Kem. Spectulations are all she had to go on about killing a dragon. Those books that are written may tell how to kill a dragon, though all dragons are different.
And the books are out-of-date. Lys'ifirit had taught Tanania alot, though she still had some to learm.

Nebet emerged from the water, grinning. "We should set up if we're going to spend the night here. I'll start a fire and ask Kem if she can have Lust fetch us some food...hey, what's up?" she asked, peering at Tanania. She paused, then hurried over to ask Kem. Her sister waved her away and Lust flew off shortly after, returning an hour later with a brace of hares.
Nebet cooked them quickly, dividing the shares equally. "The sky was always so beautiful..." she murmured, staring up at the star-studded black canvas that stretched above them. Kem looked up, a smile playing at her lips. Even Lust seemed entranced by the night, his head tilted back and wings drooping at his sides.

Tanania kept an eye opened, fidgeting. She wasn't used to such open places, after living in the forest, under the trees for years.
She yawned, chewing on her bunny absentmindedly, and snorted as she sallowed a bit of fur. "Well, Lamia are out mostly at night..."

Nebet was asleep almost insantly, curled up in the ferns, arm thrown over her head. Lust had perched himself at the top of a tree and was dozing, head tucked under his wing. Only Kem remained awake, gray eyes scanning the page of an ancient book. The edges were torn and crumbling, forcing Kem to be as gentle as possible. Some of the text had been rubbed clean off, but she knew what it said.
After awhile, she closed the book with a sigh, turning her gaze again to the stars. Already she could tell where they were in relation to her Master's old place. The fingers on her left hand twitched slightly and her she glanced over at the useless arm. Scorn split her face and she looked away, casting a quick glance over the gathered party. Her sister and Lust, and Tanania. What a strange group.

Tanania was licking between her scaled fingers, getting rid of whatever grim or grit were in them. Much like a cat would use its teeth to do so. She sighed, and laid her head down and flitted off to sleep.
*
High upon a dune, a long figure watched the group. It had watched them amass and settle. The lion-man narrowed his eyes. His body and skin was tan, as the sand, so he hadn't been noticed.

Kem shifted uneasily. Something wasn't right. On the tree above, Lust had awakened and was looking around, alarmed by something. "Lussssst?" Kem hissed, watching him. The arrowhawk didn't even react, which caused a stab of fear to go through Kem.
Her hand slid to 'Soul', slender fingers wrapping around the hilt. She kept her head down, watching through a curtain of dark hair.

Tanania's sensitive hearing picked up Kem's light speaking, and she lifted her head. Upon seeing Lust, she became alert, and began to scan the dark dunes for anything out of place.
*
The Lamia bent to the sand, and crawled away from them. Once he was out of view, he stood back up and began to gallop away from them. He was planning on reporting this, as he was a scout.
He soon reached the hidden village of Lamia, and made way to a cave that the Leader was dwelling in.

Nebet stood up drearily, rubbing her eyes. Kem was leaning over her, the moonlight catching her eyes and causing them to glow eerily. "What?" she asked, stifling a yawn.
"Company," Kem stated dully, turning her gaze to Lust. The arrowhawk came gliding back down, all four wings beating rapidly. "The Lamia, I believe?" she asked, turning to Tanania. Lust landed on her shoulder, folding his wings and hunching his back.
